Why the plumber called

How it was quoted
Five WhatsApp photos, no tape in shot, so the area was estimated at about 12 m² and flagged as provisional. Two prices went out the same day: a relay price of $2,212.50 + GST if the aggregate backfill was firm, and a dig-out fallback of $4,462.50 + GST that would only be used with agreement if the base proved soft. The plumber accepted the next day and the work was booked for the day after that.

State school grounds are Crown land and the Board authorises works on them; on this job the plumber’s project already carried that authority, and our part was the surface.
