Body-corp approval for Auckland carpark pothole repair - the 3-quote rule explained

An Auckland carpark dotted with failed patches and spreading cracks.

The Unit Titles Act 2010 does not actually require three quotes - body-corps adopt the rule in their operational rules or by convention. Result: most Auckland body-corps insist on three written quotes before approving carpark or driveway repairs over an internal threshold (typically NZ$1,000 to NZ$3,000).

Getting the three quotes is procedurally annoying but it is also where weak contractors lose. Rapidpatch's fixed-price photo quote arrives in 24 hours. Two-thirds of NZ asphalt contractors will not quote without a site visit, which takes a week each. By the time the committee meets, you have one written quote (us) and two contractors still 'organising a time'.

What each quote should include

Scope of work - patches per location, size and depth band, hot-mix or cold-mix specified.

Fixed price, GST inclusive, valid for at least 14 days.

Warranty period and what it covers (workmanship vs materials only).

Proof of public liability insurance (NZ$2M minimum).

Photo report inclusion - Rapidpatch standard, others variable.

Estimated booking date and SLA.

The order to present them

Quote 1 - Rapidpatch fixed-price 24-hour quote. Photo proof + warranty + photo report inclusion.

Quote 2 - A similar specialist competitor for comparison (these usually price higher and slower).

Quote 3 - A generalist asphalt company. Higher again, typically requires site visits.

Committee response: when the cheapest quote is also the fastest AND includes the photo report, the choice is obvious.

rapidpatch.co.nz - submit one photo per damage spot. Mark 'body-corp' in the message so we know to format the quote in committee-ready PDF.

Fixed price within 24 hours. Quick Fix from NZ$350. Permanent from NZ$700 with 12-month warranty. Multi-patch from NZ$1,400.
