Service status (May 2026): Rapidpatch is currently onboarding our approved-partner asphalt specialists across New Zealand outside Auckland. Auckland repairs run as normal — photo quote in 10 minutes, repair within 48 hours.

Outside Auckland: submit your photo and we'll respond within 5 business days — either with a quote and a confirmed local specialist, or with an ETA for when an approved partner is onboarded in your region. Urgent jobs: call 027 737 2858.

If we can't deliver in time: we'll refer you to a vetted independent installer in your region, or send our quote and your photos back to you with no charge and no obligation, so you can take the job to any contractor of your choice. You're never locked in waiting on us.

Hamilton's road network is run by Hamilton City Council on the urban grid and by NZTA on state highways through the city (SH1, SH3, SH26, SH1B). Surrounding districts — Waipa (Cambridge, Te Awamutu) and Waikato District (Ngaruawahia, Huntly, Pokeno) — have their own reporting systems.

This is the 2026 reporting guide for the Hamilton + Waikato region.

Covers Hamilton proper — Hamilton East, Hamilton Lake, Frankton, Te Rapa, Rototuna, Flagstaff, Glenview, Dinsdale, Nawton, Chartwell, Hillcrest.

  • Antenno app (preferred — push notifications when work scheduled)

  • FixIt online: hamilton.govt.nz/fixit

  • Phone: 07 838 6699

  • 24-hour response for safety-rated potholes

  • Programmed response: 5–10 business days for routine

Waipa District Council (Cambridge, Te Awamutu)

Waikato District Council (Ngaruawahia, Huntly, Pokeno, Tuakau)

  • Online: waikatodistrict.govt.nz

  • Phone: 0800 492 452

  • Antenno app accepted

NZTA state highways through Waikato

Major state highways: SH1 (Auckland to Wellington corridor — Waikato Expressway and rural sections), SH3 (to Taranaki via Te Awamutu), SH26 (Hamilton to Morrinsville), SH1B (Hamilton bypass / Cambridge), SH27 (Matamata to Tirau).

  • Phone: 0800 4 HIGHWAYS

  • Online: nzta.govt.nz

If the pothole is on private property

Driveways, body-corp roads, retirement villages, school carparks, hospital forecourts, dairy industry yards, and rural sealed driveways across the Waikato are private property. Rapidpatch services Waikato private-property potholes via the approved-partner network.

Waikato-specific pothole pressures

  • Heavy dairy tanker traffic on rural sealed roads accelerates pavement damage — councils prioritise these

  • The Waikato Expressway opening reduced heavy traffic on parallel rural state highways but increased it at on/off ramps

  • Cambridge and Te Awamutu peri-urban growth means new subdivision streets transferring from developer to council — some have early-life pavement issues

Common questions

Why does Hamilton City Council use the Antenno app?

Antenno auto-tracks the report, sends push notifications when status changes, and shows nearby reports — useful in Hamilton where pothole hot-spots cluster on certain arterials. It's also the preferred channel for several other NZ councils (New Plymouth, Whakatāne, Kāpiti).

My pothole is on a rural Waikato road — which council?

If the road has 'Road' or 'Rd' in the name and you're outside Hamilton boundary, it's Waikato District Council, Waipa District Council, Matamata-Piako, South Waikato, or Waitomo depending on location. Google Maps shows territorial authority boundaries if you click on the road.

Does Rapidpatch service Hamilton directly?

Hamilton is serviced via our approved-partner network — same photo-quote workflow, local crew, fixed price.

Can I claim damage from Hamilton City Council?

Yes — HCC accepts road damage claims. Submit via the FixIt portal with photos of pothole + damage and any prior report number.

How to Report a Pothole in Auckland (2026 Guide)

If the pothole is on a public road, Auckland Transport fixes it — you report it on the AT website and they handle the rest. If it's on a driveway, a body-corp road, or a private carpark, AT can't help
