Retail Carpark Pothole Repair NZ — After-Hours, Photo-Quoted, Fixed Price

Retail carparks have three hard constraints: liability if a customer trips, customer flow that can't stop, and the brand on the door that won't tolerate a cone-and-tape band-aid for long. Pothole and edge-breakdown work on a live retail site is a different scope from a residential driveway — and the price reflects that, but the photo-quote process is the same.
Rapidpatch quotes retail carpark work from photos, schedules after-hours or pre-opening windows by default, and delivers under one fixed price with a 12-month warranty backed directly by us. The brand on your invoice is Rapidpatch; the on-site contractor is either us (Auckland) or a vetted partner under our quality standard.
What retail sites we fix
Supermarket carparks, mall and lifestyle-centre carparks, big-box retail (Bunnings/Mitre 10/Briscoes-scale sites), service-station forecourts where we're not in conflict with the operator's own civil contractor, drive-thru lanes, loading docks, trolley-bay zones, kerbside drop-offs.
Why retail carparks fail
Retail carparks fail at the joints — kerb edges where trolleys impact, manhole and drain surrounds, gradient-change points where rain ponds, and the heavily-loaded turning circles near entries. Most contractors patch the visible hole and ignore the failing edge two metres away. We quote the whole defect set so the next call isn't in three months.
After-hours and pre-opening work — the default
Most retail sites can't accommodate daytime work. After-hours, pre-opening, weekend overnight, or zoned shutdowns are the norm. Tier 2.6 pricing applies (from $1,800 for a zoned shutdown component). Polymer-modified cold-mix can return the zone to traffic in under an hour; hot-mix needs 4 hours' cure.
Photo quote process for retail
Send 5–10 photos covering the whole carpark, plus a site plan if you have one, plus your operating-hours window. We return within 24 hours with a fixed total price, the after-hours premium clearly broken out, the materials spec, scheduled date, traffic management requirements (if any), and the warranty terms. Sent direct to the named manager.
Multi-site rollouts and national accounts
If you've got a chain of sites (e.g. multiple supermarkets, mall portfolio), send the photo sets in a batch and we'll return a portfolio quote with consolidated scheduling. Each site is its own line item and warranty; one invoice from us if you prefer. National accounts get preferential SLA on multi-site work.
Liability framing — why this matters
Pothole-caused customer injury on a retail carpark is the kind of claim that ends up in the WorkSafe newsletter. We provide an insurance-ready photo report on every job: before/after photos, materials spec, depth and area measurements, and the warranty terms. Standard inclusion, no extra cost. Most claims that proceed to legal action are won or lost on whether the property owner had reasonable repair documentation in place.
Pricing transparency
Single defect $480 (Tier 1). Multi-defect zone $1,400 (Tier 2). After-hours / zoned shutdown component $1,800+ (Tier 2.6). Per m² for forecourts and larger areas: $160–180/m². Line marking quoted separately by partner line-marker. Full breakdown at our NZ Pothole Repair Cost Guide 2026.
Frequently asked questions
Can you work overnight at our supermarket without affecting morning trade?
Yes, that's the default. Polymer-modified cold-mix on the affected zone returns to full traffic within an hour. Hot-mix needs 4 hours cure — so for a 6am opening, we'd be done by 2am. Specify your overnight window when you send photos and we'll quote accordingly.
What's included in the insurance-ready photo report?
Before/after photos with location markers, depth and area measurements per defect, materials spec by brand, the partner-contractor's name and certification, the warranty terms in writing, and a date-stamped completion certificate. Sent within 24 hours of job completion. Free with every Rapidpatch job.
Do you handle traffic management for live retail sites?
For most retail carpark work, no traffic management plan is required — we work after-hours when the site is closed or zone the live areas with cones. For more complex sites (drive-thru lanes adjacent to active traffic, large forecourt resurface), we'll quote a TMP from a certified TM provider as a separate line item.
What about our existing line marking?
We don't paint over line marking we don't intend to keep. Our standard process is to repair the asphalt only; you book your line-marking contractor for any repaint. If you'd like us to coordinate with your line-marker, we will, but the marking work itself is a separate trade and a separate quote.
Can you start tonight if I send photos this afternoon?
Emergency same-night work is possible for Auckland on a case-by-case basis. We'll usually need the photos by 2pm to confirm crew availability by 6pm and start work after midnight. Regional partner-network sites need 24-48 hours minimum for the partner to confirm. Call 027 737 2858 if it's genuinely urgent.
